Green Guides for Last-Minute Holiday Gifts

Monday, December 20th, 2010

Happy Holidays from Artterro!  Around our office, there’s been lots of discussion about gift guides lately.  It seems like every blog has one, no matter how small.  They can be a handy way to find the perfect gift, or at least get some inspiration, but they can also be full of highly commercial products, wasteful packaging and less-than-inspiring materials.  Luckily there’s an alternative to this kind of thoughtless consumerism—the green gift guide.  This year has seen an amazing array of green gift guides, and the ones below are some of our favorites.  Not only are they chock full of unique items you’d never find in a big box store, but they also offer gifts that provide an experience and a special memory.

I hope sharing these with you will make last-minute shopping a little bit easier!

As avid environmentalists and big fans of sustainable design, it’s quite a thrill to see our Bookmaking Kit in the Treehugger Green Gift Guide.  This must-read blog made sure to include something for everyone on your list, including foodies, fashion buffs and design junkies!  Click here for the main gift guide page, and here for children’s gifts.

Head over to the website for Martha Stewart’s Whole Living Magazine, and you’ll find this guide to the best green gifts for kids.  It includes the Artterro Art Dolls Kit, along with beautiful hand-crafted stuffed animals, baby booties and hand puppets.

The Smiling Green Christmas Catalog is full of unique items made by unique companies—it even shows you the smiling faces behind each brand, which adds a nice personal touch to your holiday shopping.
